ENFERMEDAD CEREBROVASCULAR ISQUÉMICA SECUNDARIA A CRISIS VASOOCLUSIVA DREPANOCÍTICA.
Anemia falciforme, hemoglobina S, drepanocitosis.
ISCHEMIC CEREBROVASCULAR DISEASE SECONDARY TO A DREPANOCYTIC VASO-OCCLUSIVE CRISIS. BIBLIOGRAPHIC REVIEW FROM A CASE REPORT
ABSTRACT
Sickle cell anemia is a hereditary hemoglobinopathy produced by the presence of hemoglobin S, which decreases solubility and, through the polymerization process, gives rise to sickleshaped red-blood cells that obstruct the microvascular network. It is characterized by episodes of ischemia-reperfusion injury that contribute to vital organ dysfunction.
Key words. Sickle cell anemia, hemoglobin S.
