PREVALENCE OF USE OF POTENTIALLY HARMFUL SPECIFIC SUBSTANCES IN ADULTS AGED 18 TO 60

Abstract

Introduction. The hazardous and harmful use of psychoactive substances is among the top 20 risk factors for death and disability worldwide. Regarding alcohol, the 74.8% presented low risk, 6.8% moderate risk, and 0.8% high risk. As for cannabis, 14.5% showed low risk and 7.0%, moderate. Conclusion. A high prevalence of lifetime substance use was found, but the prevalence of moderate and high risk associated with this use was low. The specific substances that presented a higher risk were tobacco products, alcohol and cannabis.

Key words. Psychoactive substance use, lifetime use prevalence rate, associated risk, Primary Health Care, ASSIST (Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test).</p>}, number={3}, journal={REVISTA ARGENTINA DE MEDICINA}, author={Bugge, Magdalena and Fontana, Florencia and Ortiz de Latierro, Sofía and Sarcona, Eugenia and Wydler, Claudia and Aguilera, Verónica and Amado, Viviana and Amor, Micaela and Barreto, Liliana and Burda, Carolina and de Britto, Julieta and Cejas, Carmen and Compan, Ana and Coullery, Yésica and Florio, Constanza and Corrao, Graciela and Fernández, Sonsoles and Giorgetti, Graciela and Irazábal, Carla and La Bella, Mara and López, Lorena and Mendes, Eva and Panessa, Roxana and Pereira, Andrés and Pronsky, Luciana and Propato, Manuela and Raso, Nicolás and Romero, Hernán and Saavedra, Alejandra and Sena, Gastón and Tapia, María Belén and Toloza, Patricia and Viñas, Anahí}, year={2017}, month={oct.}, pages={159-167} }
